Interview With Michael H. About The Flower Bomb Floral Heart Dress he designed with Digital Fashion Pro.
.
Q: What was your inspiration for the design / fashion sketch?
A: Michael H: I really had fun with creating this design. This design came about really from me visualizing the type of print I wanted to create. After I created the artwork for the print I was ready to find a style that could speak to the print.
.
Q: What was your inspiration for the fabric / artwork?
A: Michael H: I have been moved lately by abstract and floral patterns. I also drew a signature Michael H. Heart that I have been wanting to incorporate into my designs. What I love about digital design is how easy it is to change the color of vector artwork. Plus you can easily manipulate the artwork because it is vectors. This allows you to create endless color and shape combinations.
.
Q: Describe your process of how you went about designing this piece with Digital Fashion Pro?
A: Michael H. This design started with me first spending time on creating the artwork. I used a few items from the Digital Fashion Pro. First I opened a floral vector from the Digital Fashion Pro Mega Vector Art Pack. Then I put a color background beneath. Next I created the signature Michael H. Heart. I then combined all of the elements and exported it as a single print. Next, I picked two dress templates from the Designer Series. From there I incorporated the artwork into the templates. Then I manipulate the templates so that I could incorporate my vision into the design. Digital Fashion Pro gives you a great starting point but then it is up to the designer to make the piece their own. I used shadowing (something taught in Digital Fashion Pro) to give the design a flowing / draped look. Using shadows gives the design a realistic look. I also imported Digital Fashion Pro Models into the design so that I could put the dresses on the models.
